Parlophone Records in associazione con i BBC Studios e il Glastonbury Festival Ltd. sono orgogliosi di annunciare DAVID BOWIE ‘GLASTONBURY 2000’ su 2CD/DVD, 3LP, 2CD e formati digitali standard ed alta risoluzione che documentano la leggendaria esibizione di David Bowie la domenica sera del 25 giugno 2000 al festival più famoso del pianeta.

Il pacchetto include il cofanetto greatest hits completo di 21 canzoni e per la prima volta un DVD dello show intero (di cui solo 30 minuti sono stati trasmessi in TV) inclusa la performance di Glastonbury di “Heroes”, la punta di diamante dell’ esposizione “David Bowie Is..” che è anche l’unica traccia che è già stata pubblicata precedentemente.

Tutti i formati contengono il diario di David, scritto originariamente per Time Out, che lo documenta mentre si prepara per lo show nel suo modo unico ed inimitabile:

“a partire dal 1990 ho attraversato il resto del 20esimo secolo senza dover fare esibizioni con grandi hits. Sì, sì, lo so che ho fatto Quattro o cinque hits negli ultimi show ma ho resistito piuttosto bene credo.. bene, canzoni conosciute ammasseranno il prato di Glastonbury quest’anno. Beh, con un paio di stravaganze ovviamente”.

In aggiunta al nuovamente rimasterizzato ed aggiornato video DAVID BOWIE ‘GLASTONBURY 2000’ presenta un nuovo artwork di Jonathan Barnbrook (che lavorò con Bowie alle copertine di Heathen, The Next Day e ★) e le note del rinomato autore e fan di Bowie Caitlin Moran che recensì lo show per il Times.

Il pacchetto contiene foto di Bowie vestito in un sorprendente, atipico cappotto Alexander McQueen stile tonaca a tre quarti di lunghezza, la cui trama riprendeva di proposito il cappello (il famoso ‘bipperty-bopperty hat’ citato nella canzone Queen Bitch) indossato da David al suo debutto al Glastonbury Fayre nel 1971.

La co-organizzatrice di Glastonbury Emily Eavis commentò: “mi sento spesso chiedere quale sia stato il miglior set a cui abbia mai assistito qui a Glastonbury, e la performance di Bowie del 2000 è sempre una tra le prime che mi vengono in mente. È stato sorprendente; riuscì a paralizzare una folla enorme. Credo che Bowie avesse davvero una profonda relazione con Worthy Farm e raccontò alcune meravigliose storie sulla sua prima volta al Festival nel 1971, quando soggiornò alla fattoria e si esibì alle 6 di mattina mentre il sole sorgeva. E lui suonò il set perfetto. Fu davvero uno show emozionante e speciale.”

Il padre di Emily Micheal, il fondatore del festival che per primo incontrò David a Glastonbury nel 1971 disse “è uno dei tre più grandi di tutti i tempi: Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley e David Bowie.”
